Biography
Eduard Beltran turns negotiation into a strategic tool for decision-making and cooperation.
At the crossroads of law, diplomacy and negotiation
A law graduate from the University of Barcelona, a political science graduate from Sciences Po Paris and holder of an LLM from New York University, Eduard Beltran is also a former ENA student. His career spans international law, diplomacy, business and negotiation.
Negotiating beyond the balance of power
At the French Ministry of Justice, and later as a lawyer and consultant, he worked on international issues where interests, cultures and power dynamics could differ sharply. He then developed a dedicated expertise in negotiation and founded the Center for Negotiation. His conviction: negotiation is not about defeating the other side, but about understanding the real interests at stake in order to build a viable solution.
From the Harvard method to complex negotiations
Trained notably at Harvard's Program on Negotiation, Eduard Beltran masters the core principles of integrative negotiation: preparation, interests, alternatives, value creation and relationships. His work has increasingly focused on more complex situations: multi-party negotiations, asymmetric power dynamics, conflicting interests and uncertain environments.
Trust as a strategic asset
With the international publication of Trust Me! in 2025, Eduard Beltran placed trust at the heart of his approach—not simply as a moral value, but as a resource that accelerates decisions, facilitates cooperation, strengthens influence and reduces coordination costs.
Negotiating when the stakes are high
Eduard Beltran now works with senior leaders, international teams and institutions. In 2026, he continues to teach negotiation at the École de Guerre and works with international teams on cooperation in complex projects.
When interests diverge, knowing how to negotiate becomes a strategic skill.
