Biography

Clarisse Angelier builds bridges between science, industry and public decision-making.

A scientist at the heart of innovation

A metallurgical engineer with a PhD in materials science, she combines scientific and economic expertise. She joined ANRT in 2007 to develop the Cifre programme and became its Director General in 2016.

Taking research out of the laboratory

For Clarisse Angelier, innovation emerges when researchers, companies, PhD candidates, funding mechanisms, public policy and industrial needs come together. Her goal is to turn knowledge into economic, technological and societal impact.

A strategic voice in French innovation

She contributes to major debates on collaborative research, competitiveness, R&D funding and industrial policy. In 2025, for example, she contributed to the national report Amplifier la recherche partenariale public-privé (on scaling up public-private partnership research).

From innovation to sovereignty

Her perspective now extends to the ability of France and Europe to remain scientifically, industrially and technologically sovereign in the face of global competition.

Member of the French Academy of Technologies

Elected to the French Academy of Technologies in December 2025, she joined an institution that brings together scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs and business leaders to inform major technological choices. She was formally inducted at the Sorbonne in March 2026.
