Biography

A career in the service of the collective good

For more than twenty years, Karim Mahmoud-Vintam has explored the conditions that allow each person to find their place and contribute fully to a collective endeavour. His multicultural background informs his thinking on identity, recognition and dialogue.

A graduate of Sciences Po Paris, trained at the Centre Sèvres, the EPHE and ESSEC, he combines political philosophy, sociology, spirituality and strategy to make sense of contemporary divides.

From international governance to popular education

His career has taken him from international governance to local action. In particular, he has worked with Grand Lyon and advised the presidency of the FAO on multilateral governance and urbanisation.

In 2007, he founded Les Cités d’Or, a popular education movement aimed in particular at young people who are disengaging from education. His method develops five essential capabilities: knowing oneself better, expressing oneself, staying informed, building relationships of trust and understanding the complexity of the world.
