Citizenship

At a time of democratic crises, distrust of institutions and fragmenting societies, citizenship can no longer be seen as a mere legal status. It becomes a living, demanding practice that questions our ability to build a society, to engage in dialogue and to act collectively. Between disengagement and radicalisation, how can we recreate the conditions for a strong and lasting civic bond?

This talk proposes rethinking citizenship as a collective skill. It explores the mechanisms of participation, the levers of engagement and new forms of civic expression, whether institutional, associative or rooted in civil society. Through concrete examples, it highlights the initiatives that recreate common ground where everything seems to divide. But being a citizen today also means navigating a saturated information environment, where opinions are shaped as much as they are manipulated.

The talk decodes the challenges of disinformation, social media and cognitive bubbles, to give individuals back the means to exercise informed and responsible critical thinking. Finally, this talk is a call to action. It provides practical tools for turning citizenship into a lever for impact: in organisations, local communities or collectives. Because beyond words, citizenship is built through concrete engagement, shared responsibility and the ability to bring about shared solutions.
