 Alban Michon

“Adaptation is not an option. It is the condition for moving forward when everything becomes unpredictable.”

Alban Michon
Conférencier · Aventurier · Explorateur
Polar explorer, extreme diver, and speaker, Alban Michon embodies the spirit of adventure and the mastery of risk in the service of human performance. From underwater depths to ice deserts, he transforms his expeditions into universal lessons on leadership, resilience, and decision-making in uncertainty. Between physical feats, ecological commitment, and introspection, he inspires companies to push their limits to better face change.

Alban Michon

Polar explorer, extreme diver, and recognized speaker, Alban Michon has established himself as one of the most unique figures in contemporary adventure. He discovered diving at just eleven years old. Very early on, he became passionate about hostile environments and developed rare expertise: ice diving and cave diving. At 22, he purchased the ice diving school in Tignes and became a pioneer in training and supervising divers in extreme conditions.

Throughout his journey, Alban Michon has led several diving schools and accompanied teams of professional divers, explorers, and even security forces. His reputation quickly spread, and he became a technical advisor for cinema, collaborating with directors such as Luc Besson and Jacques Audiard. His expertise led him to create safety protocols for the national gendarmerie, enabling safe ice diving.

His name is associated with spectacular expeditions that have marked the history of modern exploration. In 2010, he participated in "Deepsea Under The Pole", a 45-day adventure at the North Pole during which he made 51 dives under the ice. In 2012, he led the Le Piège blanc expedition in Greenland: 1,000 km traveled by kayak, punctuated by dives under icebergs. In 2018, he took on an unprecedented challenge with ARKTIC, a solo adventure lasting 62 days through the Northwest Passage, in temperatures reaching -55 °C.

But the adventurer is not just a man of ice. He emphasizes the human dimension of exploration, working on self-overcoming, transmission, and the quest for meaning. In Mongolia, he takes a young man in search of direction to meet the Tsaatan people. In business, he translates the lessons of his adventures into concrete keys to better manage stress, make decisions in uncertain situations, and strengthen team cohesion.

Author of several works, including Le Piège blanc, Glacéo, L'École des Explorateurs, or L'itinéraire d'un nomade des glaces, Alban Michon is also the author of documentary films aired in prime time, such as On a marché sous le pôle or ARKTIC, 62 jours en solitaire. His stories inspire thousands of spectators, blending polar poetry, physical feats, and ecological commitment.

Today, he continues his explorations with the Biodysseus project, an ambitious mission to install a scientific habitat under the ice to better understand the impact of climate change. A modern explorer, inspiring speaker, and committed entrepreneur, Alban Michon transmits to everyone a strong conviction: the impossible does not exist, there are only dreams to realize.

The adventure in the service of the company!

  • Polar exploration is much more than a quest for spectacular images: it is a real-world management school. Alban Michon shares how the extreme conditions of the Far North have led him to manage complex projects, prioritize tasks, and unite teams with varied profiles.
  • Each expedition is a complete business in itself: one must convince sponsors, manage budgets, plan meticulous logistics, and anticipate crises. This parallel with the economic world is at the heart of his presentations.
  • In his narrative, he illustrates the power of preparation, the importance of communication, and the necessity of making quick decisions when uncertainty prevails. These lessons resonate directly in the lives of businesses confronted with competition, transitions, and rapid changes.
  • Through his stories, he inspires collaborators to see each obstacle as an opportunity and to understand that, even in the freezing cold, team spirit remains the best weapon against adversity.

Make decisions in uncertainty!

  • Under the ice, there is no room for hesitation. Every decision can save or compromise an expedition. Alban Michon illustrates the complexity of choice when moving in a hostile environment, where weather, ice, and the unexpected dictate their law.
  • In business, as in exploration, leaders must act with partial information, make quick decisions, and accept a degree of uncertainty. This ability to decide despite uncertainty is a key strategic skill.
  • He highlights practical methods: prepare different scenarios, anticipate risks, remain clear-headed under pressure, and rely on your team to validate choices.
  • His concrete examples, drawn from the North Pole or the Northwest Passage, become inspiring metaphors for managers who, every day, must advance without full visibility.

Resilience and overcoming oneself!

  • Living two months alone on the ice pack at -55 °C is not just a physical feat: it's a lesson in resilience. Alban Michon talks about how he overcame loneliness, cold, and fatigue, based on mental discipline and profound motivation.
  • In this talk, he shows that resilience is not innate: it is built step by step, through routines, micro-goals, and a clear vision.
  • He invites everyone to rethink their limits and to understand that self-overcoming is accessible to all, as long as one dares to step out of their comfort zone.
  • His message is clear: we all have unexpected resources, and mobilizing them can turn our challenges into successes.

Innovation and commitment in the face of climate change!

  • Beyond adventure, Alban Michon's expeditions pursue a scientific and environmental goal. The Biodysseus project illustrates his desire to innovate by proposing a scientific habitat under the ice cap, to better understand threatened polar ecosystems.
  • In this lecture, he demonstrates how innovation often arises from constraints: exploring beneath the ice requires inventing new tools, testing materials, and constantly adapting methods.
  • He connects this approach to the business world, where innovation is a lever in the face of economic, social, and climate upheavals.
  • Finally, he invites his audience to reflect on the impact of our choices on the future and to understand that every useful innovation is a contribution to the protection of our planet.
