Biography
A polar explorer, extreme diver and entrepreneur, Alban Michon has spent more than twenty years operating in environments where cold, isolation and uncertainty demand preparation, resilience and team spirit.
An early calling
Born in Troyes in 1977, he discovered diving at the age of eleven. At twenty-two, he took over the ice-diving school in Tignes and developed methods to make this extreme discipline more accessible and safer.
An expert in extreme environments
A specialist in ice and cave diving, Alban Michon works with professional divers, explorers and specialised units. His experience has also led him to advise film and television productions and to design safety protocols.
Major expeditions
In 2010, he took part in the Deepsea Under The Pole expedition to the North Pole. In 2012, he led The White Trap in Greenland, covering nearly 1,000 kilometres by kayak.
In 2018, he completed ARKTIC, a sixty-two-day solo expedition through the Northwest Passage. He covered nearly 500 kilometres in extreme conditions, with temperatures as low as -55 °C.
Deciding and acting under uncertainty
His expeditions have taught him to anticipate several scenarios, adapt quickly and make decisions with limited information. Today he applies these lessons to companies facing change, crises and transformation.
A committed speaker
In his talks, Alban Michon shares not only the successes but also the doubts, mistakes and detours of his adventures. He addresses resilience, risk management, team cohesion and pushing beyond one’s limits.
Through his expeditions and the Biodysseus underwater scientific habitat project, he also aims to raise public awareness of the changes in polar regions and marine ecosystems.
Adaptation is not optional. It is what allows us to move forward when everything becomes unpredictable.
