Biography
Author, speaker and creator of Happy Work, Gaël Chatelain-Berry has championed a simple conviction for more than ten years: sustainable performance is never built at people’s expense.
More than twenty years as a manager
An EDHEC graduate, Gaël Chatelain-Berry worked at TF1, Canal+, NRJ, iConcerts and INA. For more than twenty years, he led teams of up to several hundred people. Difficult managers, conflict, disengagement, transformations: his expertise comes first and foremost from the field.
Benevolence is not the same as niceness
For Gaël Chatelain-Berry, being a benevolent manager means neither accepting everything nor giving up on high standards. Listening, recognising, empowering, and giving corrective feedback when necessary: he advocates a style of management in which well-being and performance reinforce each other. With humour, he uses BoB, the worst manager in the world, to illustrate everything a manager should avoid.
Happy Work: a different way of listening to the world of work
Every day, through his podcast Happy Work, Gaël Chatelain-Berry explores management, trust, mental health, cooperation and employees’ new expectations. Close to 2,000 episodes have given him a genuine vantage point from which to observe work and its transformations.
6,000 kilometres to rediscover what matters
Walking close to 6,000 kilometres along the Camino de Santiago, Gaël Chatelain-Berry discovered another way of thinking about work. Keep moving. Let go. Listen. Accept the unexpected. Trust others. A personal experience that now feeds his thinking on meaning, cooperation and simplicity in organisations.
