Biography
Ralph Hababou is one of the pioneers of customer culture and service excellence in France. An author, entrepreneur and speaker, he has spent four decades helping organisations answer a question that remains as relevant as ever: how do you get customers to come back?
40 years of customer culture
In 1986, he co-wrote Service compris with Philippe Bloch. With more than 500,000 copies sold, the book helped establish an idea that was then new in France: service is not an extra, but a genuine competitive advantage.
From IBM to Columbus Café
An ESSEC graduate, Ralph Hababou began his career at the French Embassy in Milan, then at IBM. In 1987, he co-founded PB·RH Conseil to turn the principles of Service compris into operational methods. In 1994, he co-founded Columbus Café, which he sold ten years later.
High tech, high touch
Apps, platforms, chatbots and AI have profoundly transformed customer relationships. For Ralph Hababou, technology should make service easier without destroying the relationship. Listening, simplicity, recognition and the ability to solve problems remain the real drivers of trust.
Service starts inside the company
With his MERCI® model — Lead by example, Listen, Recognise, Entrust, Inform and train — he directly links leadership, employee engagement and customer experience.
Service, loyalty and human attention
