Biography

Philosopher, writer and musician, Thierry Aymès explores the big questions of existence through our everyday lives: loving, choosing, facing fear, finding courage, growing older, thinking and giving meaning to one’s life.

When philosophy meets life

A philosophy teacher for nearly twenty years, Thierry Aymès refuses to see thinking as the preserve of specialists. Instead, he starts from familiar situations to bring out the great philosophical questions. A song, an expression, a fear or a decision can all become food for thought.

Thinking in music

A self-taught musician, he created Philosong and Philoscène, two formats where philosophy, song and live performance meet. Claude François converses with Aristotle, MC Solaar with Alain, Patrick Hernandez with Aristippus. A joyful, popular and participatory way of bringing philosophy to life.

Philosophy at its most human

His path has also led him to work in prisons and retirement homes. Experiences that feed his reflection on dignity, vulnerability, memory and the desire to live.

Thinking about what makes us human in the age of AI

Faced with artificial intelligence, Thierry Aymès asks an essential question: does a machine that can write, argue or compose actually think? A reflection that puts what makes us unique back at the centre: the body, emotions, consciousness, history and lived experience.

Thinking differently about what we already live.

With Thierry Aymès, philosophy is never abstract. It begins with everyday life to help us think differently about what we already experience.

01

Staying human in the age of artificial intelligence

AI calculates. But does it really think?

Artificial intelligence can write, argue, converse and compose. But does it have a body, a history, an unconscious, an experience of the world? Thierry Aymès contrasts artificial intelligence with human consciousness to explore what remains profoundly unique about us.

  • Distinguish intelligence from thought
  • Question the role of consciousness
  • Reflect on what makes us unique
  • Restore value to human presence
Ideal for Conventions, executive committees, transformation, innovation, AI events
Format Conference · 45 to 75 min
02

50 songs to make you think

What if Claude François could teach us about Aristotle?

Popular songs speak of love, desire, freedom, suffering, happiness and absurdity. In other words, they already speak of philosophy. Thierry Aymès turns hit songs into gateways to major philosophical ideas.

  • Make philosophy immediately accessible
  • Create a collective and participatory moment
  • Think through popular culture
  • Root ideas in emotion
Ideal for Conventions, seminars, evening events, cultural events
Format Philosong / Philosophy karaoke · 60 to 90 min
03

Everyday courage

Courage is not the absence of fear.

Courage appears when we decide to act despite fear. Saying no. Defending a conviction. Making a difficult decision. Facing uncertainty. Being yourself when everything pushes towards conformity. Thierry Aymès restores value to the quiet forms of courage that shape our lives.

  • Act despite fear
  • Move through uncertainty
  • Defend your values
  • Find the courage to be yourself
Ideal for Managers, teams in transformation, HR, conventions

Living in the present moment

We spend our lives between what is no longer and what is not yet.
